After what many people called a "failed season,” Barton men’s basketball is expected to do well this year. Last season Barton went 20 - 11 with a first round loss to Butler in the regional tournament.  Some say last year we had 'too many selfish players' or just a 'lack of chemistry' but either way it just wasn't our season.

The cougars have to get back to their winning ways and soon.  They have started out this year 10 - 1 with eight out of the 11 games won by 20 or more points. The cougar’s first loss came when Barton played Fort Scott Community College at the Dodge City classic.  The cougars lost by one and are on an eight game winning streak.  They haven't looked back since that early loss.

The Cougars are led by sophomore guard Ahmad Walker a transfer from Division 1 Stony Brook University.  He's averaging 22.5 ppg, 5.3 rebs, and leads the team with 48 assists. Those impressive numbers just earned him recognition as the KJCCC player of the week.

Barton men’s basketball team will take the court December 6 against Brown Mackie College. Brown Mackie has a record of 9 - 3 and they are on a 5 game winning streak. The Lions played last weekend at Barton’s annual Thanksgiving basketball tournament, the Lions beat Cowley Community College by 3 and the next day beat Fort Scott Community College with a final score of 63 - 51.

Guard Ahasuerus McDonald leads the team with 19.3 ppg and 4.3 apg.  But Barton's biggest challenge would be stopping the big man in the middle #11 Macam Macam.  He averages 15.6 ppg and 10.3 ast. This will be by far the cougar’s toughest challenge. Make sure your there at the Barton gym on Saturday when the cougars play the #14 nationally ranked division II  Brown Mackie College at 7:30 p.m.
